What Hetzner does
Hetzner Online GmbH operates dedicated server, cloud, and storage products from German and Finnish datacenters. Founded in 1997, owned and operated from Gunzenhausen, Germany. They are a primary European hosting provider with a focus on price-performance over hyperscaler ergonomics — and a corporate structure that is genuinely European, not a tax-optimization vehicle for a non-EU parent.
How we use it
Every byte of customer data lives on Hetzner dedicated metal. Postgres primary in Falkenstein, cold standby in Helsinki, application and WebSocket servers in Falkenstein. We chose Hetzner over AWS-EU specifically for sovereignty consistency: AWS-EU is a US-corporate region; Hetzner is a German company. We accept the operational tradeoff of running our own Postgres and Redis in exchange for a sovereign hosting story.
Why this integration is on our list
Every entry in our integration directory is EU-incorporated. The sovereignty story breaks if any link in the chain is US-jurisdictional. Hetzner is part of the chain that lets us deliver the EU Pledge as a contractual commitment, not a marketing claim.
