OmniTeam vs Google Chat: the honest comparison.
A team chat that exists as a chat product, not a chat surface bolted onto Workspace. EU-owned, no ad-business adjacency, full message retention.

THE HONEST PART
When Google Chat is the right call
Google Chat is the right call when your team is fully on Google Workspace, the chat is genuinely a side-effect of using Drive and Calendar, and "good enough" is the bar. The Spaces concept works well enough for small teams. The integration with Drive is genuinely seamless. The price is effectively zero (it’s in your Workspace seat already).
WHEN WE’RE THE RIGHT CALL
Why teams move from Google Chat to OmniTeam.
We are the right call when chat matters as a primary surface, when EU sovereignty is in your procurement requirements, when "your chat lives in the same company that runs the world’s largest ad platform" is a problem statement you take seriously, when you want a real product instead of a bundled-in feature. Google’s priorities are not your priorities.

FAQ
What people ask about Google Chat → OmniTeam.
Can we keep Google Workspace?
Yes. We replace the Chat surface only. Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Gmail all continue. Disabling Chat in the Workspace admin console is a per-org-unit toggle.
What happens to Drive file attachments in old chat threads?
During import, we copy referenced Drive files to EU-owned storage. The original Drive files remain (you can keep using Drive). Future {brand} files live in our storage.
Calendar integration?
For launch we integrate by parsing event links in messages. Native calendar UI in chat is a v2 commitment. Most teams find Calendar in a tab works fine.
Can the import preserve our Spaces structure?
Yes. Google Spaces map cleanly to {brand} Channels. Threading model imports too. Direct messages and group chats all come over.
What about Google Meet?
We integrate with Jitsi (sovereignty-friendly), Whereby (EU-headquartered), and yes, Google Meet (some teams keep it). Meet links in messages remain functional.
Is the migration tool Google Vault compatible?
We import Google Vault exports for organizations that have Vault enabled. For organizations without Vault, we use the standard Google Takeout export per user.
Will this work with our SAML SSO?
Yes, immediately. We support OIDC and SAML SSO out of the box on every paid tier. Google Workspace is a supported IdP.
What about the AI features in Google Workspace?
We do not have a Smart Compose-equivalent in v1. AI features (when they ship) are opt-in per feature with audit trail. We do not train on customer messages.
